January 2005 - Iorwerth Rowlands Awarded an MBE
 |
Iorwerth Rowlands has been honoured in the New Year list
with an MBE for his services to the community in
Beaumaris.
A leading pillar of the community, Iorwerth has worked
to develop the community centres in the town for the
young people of the area, including the Canolfan
Beaumaris Centre, and the newly refurbished Canolfan
Iorwerth Rowlands Centre.
Iorwerth Rowlands, a 78 year old retired dairy farmer,
has worked tirelessly to improve the facilities
available to young people in East Anglesey. "I've
managed to get two lottery grants for the town valued at
around £1m," he said.
"We got one for a youth centre that was going to be
demolished....it was named the Iorwerth Rowland Centre
after me," he added. " Beaumaris means a lot to me. This
MBE is for the people of Beaumaris, they've looked after
me well, I can't imagine anyone being anything other
than excited to be getting this from their town."

January 2005 - New Website Launched |
The Canolfan Iorwerth Rowlands
Centre has a new website which provides up to date
information about the Beaumaris and East Anglesey Youth
Club, including pictures from away trips, and
information about up and coming events. The website has
been put together by local website designer Carolyn
Warburton, together with several other members of the
local community who are participating in a range of
activities to promote the centre.
The site features the range of Adult courses provided at
the centre, and includes an online form that visitors
can use to express interest in new courses. In addition,
full information is provided on the Over 50s club
activities, Citizens Advice Bureau and Job Centre
services, all of which are hosted at the Canolfan. To
find out more, and to pass on your comments, visit the
website at www.circ.org.uk. |
