The newly funded Iorwerth Rowlands Community Project was identified by the Canolfan Iorwerth Rowlands centre, the Beaumaris over 50s club, and by Medrwn Mons consumer unit, through research, holding various events, and gaining other feedback from members of the local community to gain a bigger picture of what the local community needs were.

It is a new and innovative project, which employs one full time project manager and one part time project assistant that will run for three years from May 2008 and is funded by the Big Lottery Funds "People & Places" programme.

The project itself aims to provide the following outcomes:-

  1. Increase the number of volunteers in south east Anglesey by recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers and placing them at identified and suitable organisations within the local community.
  2.  Provide improved information and signposting on a range of topics to members of the community in south east Anglesey.
  3. Provide increased opportunities for young people to take part in sports and exercise activities.

The centre is currently placing volunteers at various organisations and businesses in the local community and if you are interested in volunteering or would like further information, please contact the centre.

CIRC is currently working with Beaumaris Toursit Information Point, Beaumaris Day Care Centre, RNLI Lifeboat Shop, Meals on Wheels. More partnerships are in the pipeline. Ask the centre for further details.
